Early in the 1990s, Esprit developed specialized language services for Internet applications, particularly Internet marketing, website creation, and multimedia applications. Esprit International has assisted with the development of multiple website projects in all major European and Oriental languages, including Japanese, Chinese and Korean.
Esprit is the foreign language partner of several website design firms in the U.S. and Canada offering localization services. Esprit translators are trained to work on-line to produce and deliver foreign language versions of websites.
Multilingual "localization" is designed to support export sales and worldwide information distribution. Esprit understands how websites are created and our translators have worked closely with technical people making innovative inroads in this field. In the early 1980s, Esprit International created Esprit Film Services to service the video and post-production markets. Esprit developed training aids for our employees in this area of specialization, headed by an Esprit employee trained in television production who was finalizing her Masters degree in film and dubbing techniques. Esprit gained precious experience working in numerous multi-language video projects that included supplying voice talent and in-studio monitoring and even produced French language programmes for TV Ontario.
Esprit maintains a repertoire of non-union voice talent in various languages for dubbing projects at greatly reduced prices. Many of our voice people have professional TV and radio backgrounds. We have full sound and acoustic equipment in-house to produce turn-key dubbing projects. |

Many languages have to be considered carefully in view of the foreign markets or market being targeted. For example, separate teams of translators are used for French translations destined for the French Canadian (North American) market and for France (Europe). The language levels, culture and idiomatic differences can be enormous! For Spanish translations, the same applies, only multiply that several times over! You may need different language versions for Spain, Mexico, Puerto Rico, the Chicano U.S. market, Chile, Colombia, Venezuela and Argentina, and that is just for starters! North American Spanish markets and South American Spanish markets require very different linguistic treatments. As well, Mexico is in a league of its own. We could go on and on about the crucial differences between Portuguese for the Brazilian market and the Continental market (Portugal)! There are many, many examples all across the world.
